Adele states her weight loss left some fans feeling ‘extremely betrayed’

Adele states she feels “terrible” about how her weight loss — and the reaction to it — made some young fans seem like their own bodies weren’t sufficient.

“I felt terrible for some people that felt like other people’s comments meant that they weren’t looking good or that they weren’t beautiful,” the vocalist stated in an interview for the BBC radio program Desert Island Discs on Saturday.

“Some of the ones I saw were young, they were like 15,” she continued. “And there were some other people who felt very betrayed by me, being like, ‘Oh, she’s given into the pressure of it.’ Which didn’t really bother me because you aren’t holding my hand at 4 a.m. when I’m crying my heart out with anxiety and needing a distraction.”

The British star has actually been open about the impact exercising has actually had on her psychological health in the middle of her split from ex-husband Simon Konecki, which she has previously said “f***ing devastated” her. The previous couple’s divorce was completed in 2015.
